*UPDATE* Weyburn RCMP: Two-vehicle collision restricting Highway 39 southeast of Weyburn

This morning (January 5, 2020), at approximately 6 a.m., Weyburn RCMP responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 39 approximately 2 kilometres southeast of Weyburn, SK.

A semi-truck and a pick-up truck collided head-on in the southbound lane.

The driver and sole occupant of the pick-up truck, a 19 year-old male, was declared deceased at the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the semi, a 34 year-old male, was taken to hospital in Regina with undetermined injuries.

Weyburn RCMP and an RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this collision.

Highway 39 has reopened to traffic.

Weyburn RCMP are currently on the scene of a two-vehicle collision approximately 2 kms southeast of Weyburn on Highway 39.

The highway is expected to be restricted for several hours as the investigation continues/until the scene is cleared.

Officers are on scene directing traffic. Please avoid the area or find an alternate route if possible.
