UPDATE- Portage la Prairie RCMP requesting public assistance in identifying homicide victim

On June 24, 2020, at approximately 9:30 pm, RCMP responded to a report of found human remains near Baker Street, in Portage la Prairie.

The identity of the remains is unknown and the RCMP along with Major Crime Services, Forensic Identification Services and the Chief Medical Examiner's Office, continue to investigate.

The investigation has been determined to be a homicide.

Today we are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the victim. An autopsy was conducted and the victim is described as:

  • Male
  • Between the ages of 20 – 40
  • 5'7" – 6'2" in height
  • Has scoliosis of the spine (curvature of the spine)
  • Brown hair, possibly medium length
