Update: Man charged with first-degree murder

A 22-year-old Moncton man has been charged with first-degree murder following a shooting in the city.

On May 21, 2020, at about 9:20 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a shot fired at a home on Sangster Street. When police arrived, a man was located badly injured inside the home. He was transported to hospital, and later died as a result of his injuries.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at a nearby residence a short time later, and held in custody.

The RCMP's Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.

On May 22, Jake Mischiek was charged with the first-degree murder of 27-year-old Josh Daley of Moncton. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to Moncton Provincial Court on June 25 at 9:30 a.m.

The RCMP is asking anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, to contact the Major Crime Unit at 506-857-2400.
