Update: Man arrested following vehicle stunt

The RCMP have arrested a 39-year-old man from Mayflower in relation to the vehicle stunt on February 29.

On February 29 shortly after 6 p.m., a small red vehicle was driven off the wharf at Cape Saint Mary's. The call was dispatched to the RCMP as a possibly fatal collision, and members of Meteghan Detachment responded. They called in additional RCMP resources, including members of the Underwater Recovery Team and a Collision Reconstructionist.

On March 3, the driver turned himself in at the Meteghan RCMP Detachment.

The man is facing a charge of Mischief, three charges under the Motor Vehicle Act which include Stunting, Driving a Motor Vehicle while License is Revoked and Driving a Motor Vehicle without Liability Policy. He is also facing a charge of Releasing Substance into the Environment so that it Causes or May Causes Adverse Effect under the Nova Scotia Environment Act.

He was released on condition and is scheduled to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on April 17 at 9:30 a.m.
