Two arrested in drug trafficking investigation

An investigation in Amherst has resulted in drug trafficking related charges against an Amherst man and women.

As part of the investigation, Cumberland Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) with the assistance of the Amherst Police Department and Cumberland RCMP obtained a search warrant at a home on West Victoria St. in Amherst late Wednesday evening October 8. During the search, a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine, as well as methamphetamine, cocaine, oxycodone, hydromorphone and drug paraphernalia being seized, along with a conducted energy weapon and a sensory irritant canister. Both arrested at the residence without incident.

Brent Robert Cameron 32-years-old is held in custody and scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court today at 9:30 a.m. facing the following charges:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking X 2

· Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

· Possession of Schedule 1 Opioid for the Purpose of Trafficking

· Possession of Schedule 1 Other for the Purpose of Trafficking

· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm/Prohibited Weapon or Restricted Weapon X 2

· Fail to Comply with Probation Order

A 31-year-old Amherst women was released from custody on October 9 and scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on January 6, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. to face the following charges:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking X 2

· Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

· Possession of Schedule 1 Opioid for the Purpose of Trafficking

· Possession of Schedule 1 Other for the Purpose of Trafficking

The investigation is ongoing.
