RCMP Traffic Services West seizes vehicle following speeds of 153 kms/hr on the TCH near Humber Valley Resort.

RCMP Traffic Services West seized a car following a traffic stop yesterday for excessive speeding on the Trans-Canada Highway near Humber Valley Resort.

On August 4, 2020, an officer was on patrol and observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed. Radar readings showed the vehicle's speed as 153 km/hr. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 68-year-old woman of Benoit's Cove, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for the excessive speed. In addition, her licence was suspended.

RCMP NL continues to enforce excessive speeds and warns motorists of the dangers they place themselves and others in while driving in this manner.
