RCMP Traffic Services West seizes vehicle following speeds of 153 kms/hr on the TCH near Birchy Lake.

RCMP Traffic Services West seized a car, operated by a 36-year-old Gander man, following excessive speeding on the Trans-Canada Highway near Birchy Narrows.

On February 23, 2020, an officer was on patrol near Birchy Narrows and observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed. Radar readings showed the vehicle's speed as 153 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone.

The driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for speeding more than 51 km/hr and his licence was suspended.

NL continues to enforce excessive speeds and warns motorists of the dangers they place themselves and others in while driving in this manner.
