Three people dead following two-vehicle collision on TCH east of Appleton

Three people died as the result of a collision this past Saturday evening, July 25, on the Trans Canada Highway east of Appleton. Gander RCMP received a report of the collision at approximately 8:20 p.m. Police, along with the Gander Fire Department and emergency medical services, responded.

The investigation to this point shows that two vehicles, an SUV travelling west and a car travelling east, collided head on. The two occupants of the car, a 23-year-old male and a 22-year-old female both from Gander, died at the scene. The lone occupant of the SUV, a 51-one-year-old female of Lewisporte, was transported to hospital and later died from injuries sustained in the collision.

Alcohol is not suspected to have played a role in the collision. The investigation is continuing.
