Thompson RCMP make arrest in kidnapping/stolen vehicle

On May 22, 2020, at approximately 3:00 pm, Thompson RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle that had been stolen outside a business on Selkirk Avenue in Thompson, and that there was a 14-year-old female victim inside the vehicle.

The investigation has determined that the suspect got into the vehicle, which was parked and running, drove a short distance, and then dropped the youth off on the side of the road. The youth was not injured.

With the assistance of On-Star, the stolen vehicle was located on Laval Place in Thompson. Numerous officers along with Police Dog Services, attended the area and began to search the apartment building. As police were searching, the suspect was located trying to flee out a window and was arrested without incident.

Troy Jack Cameron McIvor, 34, of Thompson has been charged with Kidnapping, Theft, and Robbery. He was remanded into custody and will appear in court today.
