Thompson RCMP investigate four aggravated assaults in four days

Thompson RCMP is investigating four separate aggravated assaults that occurred in the community between June 3, 2020 and June 6, 2020.

On June 3, 2020, at approximately 6:45 pm, Thompson RCMP responded to an injured male on a trail in the Eastwood area. A 23-year-old male from Thompson had been assaulted and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Later that evening, at approximately 11:30 pm, officers responded to a report of a fight outside a business on Public Road, in Thompson. The investigation has determined that a violent fight involving weapons (including an axe and a machete) occurred between a group of men which resulted in several serious injuries. Multiple victims attended the hospital for treatment.

Thomas Constant, 28, of Thompson, has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon x2, Mischief and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

Cody Spence, 30, of Thompson, has been charged with Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Failing to Comply x4.

On June 6, 2020, at approximately 5:05 pm, Thompson RCMP received a report of an injured female at the hospital.

It is believed that the 30-year-old female was assaulted on Friday, June 5, 2020, during the evening or night, outside a business in the 100 block of Churchill Drive, in Thompson.

She is currently in hospital with serious injuries.

"This incident occurred outside a popular restaurant/night club in the city and we know there were several patrons there that evening," said S/Sgt. Chris Hastie, of Thompson RCMP. "We are asking anyone who may have witnessed the assault or has any information to please contact us."

Later that evening, at approximately 11:40 pm, Thompson RCMP responded to a report of an injured male on Ashberry Place.

It is believed that a 19-year-old from Thompson was stabbed during a home invasion. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"Our officers are continuing to investigate each occurrence and believe they are all unrelated," said S/Sgt. Chris Hastie, "We are asking anyone with information about any of these incidents to call us. What may seem small and insignificant, may turn out to be valuable and key information."
