On October 10, 2020, at approximately 12:30 pm, Thompson RCMP were notified that a tenant at an apartment building on Princeton Drive had found a bullet that had been fired through another suite. The bullet had travelled through the wall, through a cupboard, and was found on the floor.

During the course of the investigation, RCMP determined where the shot originated from, and executed a search warrant at one of the neighboring suites. Officers located and seized a handgun and ammunition. Subsequently, the tenant of the suite, a 39-year-old female, was arrested and is facing several firearms related charges.

The investigation continued and led officers to identify another suspect, who they began searching for.

On October 11, 2020 at approximately 6:00 pm, the male suspect attended the Thompson RCMP detachment.

The 30-year-old male from Winnipeg was arrested, and was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation has determined that the male was handling the firearm in an unsafe manner, when it discharged.

He will be facing charges of Careless Use of a Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm and Possession of a loaded Restricted Firearm.

Thompson RCMP continue to investigate.
