The Saskatchewan RCMP warns the public of the dangers of consuming illicit drugs

On August 25, 2020, Saskatoon RCMP responded to a call of a possible overdose. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics found an unresponsive man at a residence. The man was administered CPR and Naloxone, however lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and he was declared deceased on scene.

As a result of this investigation, officers became aware of similar deaths in the Saskatoon area involving drugs that may have contained a combination of crystal meth, cocaine or fentanyl.

One of the many risks and dangers of street drugs is that they are often represented as one thing but can unknowingly contain other substances. Often times, the drugs are laced with unknown substances which can have serious effects on your body or even fatal consequences.

Getting illicit drugs off the streets continues to be a top priority for the RCMP. We continue to collaborate with our domestic and international law enforcement partners to actively address this issue by pursuing criminal networks fueling this public health threat.

If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately.
