The NT RCMP ICE Unit lay child pornography charges

The NT RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) have charged a 53-year-old man with child pornography offences following an extensive investigation.

The NT RCMP ICE Unit started an investigation in March 2019. A search warrant was executed in June 2019 at a residence, with assistance from Yellowknife RCMP, the NT RCMP Major Crime Unit and Yellowknife RCMP General Investigation Section.

Multiple electronic devices were seized and analyzed, with support from the Saskatchewan RCMP Digital Forensics Unit.

On July 14th, 2020, the ICE Unit with assistance from Yellowknife RCMP, arrested and charged Russ Jones, from Yellowknife.

Russ Jones is charged with:

  • Possession of child pornography sec. 163.1(4)
  • Transmission of child pornography sec. 163.1(3)

Russ Jones has been released under conditions. His next court appearance in Yellowknife is on November 24th, 2020.
