Stunting driver charged: 86 km/hr over the speed limit

On May 8 at approximately 10 p.m., a member of the RCMP Southeast Traffic Services was monitoring traffic on Hwy. 333 near Old Coach Road. They observed an Acura ILX travelling at a high rate of speed and activated the RADAR. The vehicle's speed was measured at 156 km/hr, 86 km/hr over the posted speed limit.

The RCMP officer conducted a vehicle stop, and the 26-year-old female driver from Halifax was charged with Stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was seized and impounded. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50. The female driver's license was also seized and suspended for seven days.

The RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road Safety is a priority for the RCMP, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.
