News release

On June 25 at 9:24 p.m., a member of the RCMP's Northeast Traffic Services was on patrol on Hwy. 125 between Exits 3 and 4 and spotted a car travelling at a high rate of speed and passing several vehicles in the passing lane. He activated the RADAR and measured the speed at 162 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. The officer stopped the car and charged the 17-year-old male from Sydney with Stunting under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was seized and impounded. The RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road Safety is a priority for the RCMP, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well. If you see someone driving unsafely on our roads, report it by calling the RCMP at 1-800-803-RCMP (7267) or 911.
