On June 25 at 9:24 p.m., a member of the RCMP's Northeast Traffic Services was on patrol on Hwy. 125 between Exits 3 and 4 and spotted a car travelling at a high rate of speed and passing several vehicles in the passing lane. He activated the RADAR and measured the speed at 162 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. The officer stopped the car and charged the 17-year-old male from Sydney with Stunting under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was seized and impounded. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50.
The RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads.
