Strathcona County RCMP on scene of collision on Highway 15 and Highway 830 – update #2

News release

On March 12, 2020 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to a fatal collision involving a semi-tractor and a pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 830.

Preliminary investigation revealed the semi-tractor was travelling eastbound on Highway 15 when it failed to stop at a red light, colliding with a pickup truck travelling southbound on Highway 830.

Tragically, the 34-year-old driver of the pickup truck from Beaver County, Alta. was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi-tractor was taken to hospital with injuries.

Traffic was re-routed for several hours while Strathcona County RCMP and an RCMP Collision Analyst investigated.

The name of the deceased will not be released, and no further updates are anticipated.

RCMP are still on scene at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 830. The eastbound lane on Highway 15 is now open.

Strathcona County RCMP advise they are currently on scene of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 830 (Range Road 214).

Motorists are asked to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing. Traffic is expected to be diverted for an unknown period of time while the investigation takes place and the scene is cleared.
