Stratford, Prince Edward Island

News release

On June 24, 2020, just after midnight, an off-duty Kings District RCMP officer who was travelling home in his own vehicle saw a man driving a pick-up truck, which was towing a boat, cross the centre line. In addition to crossing the line, the trailer for the boat appeared to be dragging something behind his vehicle as there were sparks coming from the area. The officer reported the incident to an on-duty officer for followup.

The vehicle continued on Keppoch Road and stopped at a gas station where a member of the Stratford RCMP arrested the 27 year-old man.

The man provided samples of his breath which were more than double the legal limit and was charged with Impaired Driving and Driving with more than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood.

The accused was subsequently released from custody into the care of a sober individual with a court date scheduled for August 17, 2020.
