Southern Alberta District RCMP Crime Reduction Unit recover stolen vehicle and two males face charges

On Jan. 23, 2020, the Southern Alberta District RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) discovered a break and enter and theft of a vehicle that had occurred during the night at a local business in Drumheller, Alta.

As a result of further investigation, the Southern Alberta District RCMP CRU team were able to locate the stolen vehicle in Calgary a few hours later and both occupants were arrested without incident.

One male was charged with the following:

  • Break and enter to commit theft
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000

He was released on an undertaking with conditions to appear in Drumheller provincial court on Feb. 28, 2020.

A second male was charged with the following:

  • Break and enter to commit theft
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Fail to comply with conditions

Following a judicial hearing, he was remanded in custody to appear in Drumheller provincial court on Feb. 14, 2020.

The Southern Alberta District RCMP CRU team's investigation into this matter involved the assistance of Hanna and Drumheller RCMP members.
