On March 21, 2020 suspects broke into the Fas Gas service station on Main Street in Slave Lake and stole the ATM.
On March 27, 2020 the Slave Lake RCMP with the assistance of the Eastern Alberta District General Investigations Section (GIS), Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and Divisional Intelligence Coordinators, judicially authorized search warrants were executed at properties west of Slave Lake and in Onoway, Alta. in relation to the ATM theft.
During the search officers seized a stolen pick up truck, a large sum of Canadian currency, methamphetamine and GHB, a stolen firearm and a prohibited assault style firearm.
The charges are as follows:
- The 40-year-old male: Break and enter, theft over $5000, mischief over $5000, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon plus additional charges.
- The 37-year-old male: Break and enter, theft over $5000, possession of stolen property, possession of weapon and failure to comply with release conditions plus additional charges.
- The 30-year-old female: Possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon, fail to comply with release conditions.
- The 30-year-old female: Possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon.
All suspects have been released from custody by a Justice of the Peace following Judicial Interim Release Hearings. The 37-year-old and 40-year-old males are set to appear in Slave Lake provincial court on June 10, 2020. The two 30-year-old females are set to appear in High Prairie provincial court on June 8, 2020.
