Slave Lake RCMP investigate fatal collision

On Jan. 30, 2020, at approximately 2 p.m., Slave Lake RCMP attended the scene of a collision between a car and a semi-tractor on Highway 88 approximately 47 km north of Slave Lake, Alta.

Preliminary investigation indicates a semi-tractor was travelling southbound on Highway 88 and slowed to turn onto a service road. A car travelling southbound behind the semi-tractor collided into the rear of the semi-tractor. The 41-year-old driver, lone occupant of the car, from Red Earth Creek, Alta., was pronounced deceased on scene. The male driver, lone occupant of the semi-tractor, was not injured.

Slave Lake RCMP, along with an RCMP Collision Analyst, are investigating this collision.

The area of the collision remained restricted to traffic until approximately 11 p.m., when the highway was re-opened.

No further updates are anticipated.
