Single-vehicle collision in Lower Island Cove results in arrest of impaired driver

Following a tip from the public on January 22, 2020, Harbour Grace RCMP arrested a man from Old Perlican for impaired driving.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in Lower Island Cove. The 33-year-old driver failed a roadside breath test and was transported to Harbour Grace Detachment where he provided breath samples that were two times the legal limit.

The man's licence was suspended and his vehicle seized and impounded. He has been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving.

The RCMP thanks the public for reporting impaired drivers and assisting with efforts to keep roads safe.
