Shots fired complaint leads to attempted murder charges

The General Investigation Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division has charged a man with Attempted Murder.


At 4:45 p.m. on April 9, Halifax District RCMP and Halifax Regional Police were called to a disturbance outside a residence in Lower Prospect Branch Rd., Terence Bay. Police located the injured victim, a 46-year-old man, standing and talking to other people at the scene.

The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of what is believed to be serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Police learned from witnesses at the scene that an altercation occurred between two men. The assailant left the scene and returned with a firearm shooting the victim and fled in a vehicle.

Officers located the man at nearby home and arrested the 37-year-old male, from Terence Bay without incident.

Jeffrey Paul Mason has been charged with:

· Attempted Murder

· Assault with weapon

· Uttering Threats

· Various Weapons related charges

The accused was held in custody overnight and is appearing via telecommunications at the Justice of the Peace Centre today.

The suspect and victim are known to each other and police have determined this was not a random act.

The investigation is ongoing and being led by the General Investigation Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
