On June 26, 2020, at approximately 11:45 pm RCMP responded to a call of an armed robbery at a business on Main Street, in Selkirk. A male entered the business holding a knife and wearing a black balaclava. He demanded cash and cigarettes from the employee.
The suspect left the scene in a vehicle and moments later crashed into a hydro pole. Witnesses at the scene of the collision indicated to officers that the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Officers attended the residence of the registered owner of the vehicle while additional officers patrolled the area looking for the suspect.
While speaking to the registered owner, officers noticed that a male at the residence was wearing clothing and had tattoos that matched the description of the suspect.
John Adam CURWIN, 37, of Selkirk was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court in Selkirk on July 10, 2020.
