Saskatoon RCMP lay charges after fatal motor vehicle collision near Aberdeen, SK

Saskatoon RCMP have laid 10 charges against one individual after a fatal two vehicle collision on Highway #41 south of Aberdeen on January 23, 2020.

A 34-year-old male from Aberdeen, SK, has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm, contrary to Sec. 221 of the Criminal Code;
  • Impaired Driving Causing Death, contrary to Sec. 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code;
  • Drive Over 08 Causing Death, contrary to Sec. 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code;
  • Dangerous Driving Causing Death, contrary to Sec. 320.13(3) of the Criminal Code
  • Two counts of Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm, contrary to Sec. 320.14(2) of the Criminal Code;
  • Two counts of Drive Over 08 Causing Bodily Harm, contrary to Sec. 320.14(2) of the Criminal Code; and
  • Two counts of Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm, contrary to Sec. 320.13(2) of the Criminal Code.

The male is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Saskatoon on February 7, 2020, at 9:00 a.m.

Saskatoon RCMP: Fatal collision investigation

On January 23, 2020 around 6:15 p.m. Saskatoon RCMP responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway #41 south of Aberdeen. Aberdeen Fire and EMS were already on scene when officers arrived.

The 74-year-old male driver of the southbound pickup truck was transported to hospital with what were described as serious injuries. The 67-year-old female passenger of the southbound truck was pronounced deceased on scene.

The 34-year-old adult male driver of the northbound truck was transported to hospital with what were described as serious injuries. The four-year-old passenger of the northbound truck was transported to hospital via STARS.

We do not have any updates on their conditions and we will not be releasing any further information about them at this time.

Saskatoon RCMP and RCMP Collision Reconstruction continue to investigate. Highway #41 was closed for the duration of the investigation; it is now open.
