Ross River man arrested after firearms complaint

At approximately 1:30 am on July 5th, 2020, Ross River RCMP responded to a report that a man with a rifle attended a residence and allegedly uttered threats against a home occupant. The suspect was identified as Tyrell Ollie, 32, of Ross River.

Shortly after, but before police arrived, Ollie departed and returned to his residence. Officers from both Faro and Ross River were deployed to assist with the arrest. When officers arrived, Ollie initially complied with police requests and exited his residence. Upon being told he was under arrest, Ollie went back into the residence.

Officers pursued the suspect and placed Ollie under arrest, without incident.

A search warrant was executed at Ollie's residence, where police seized 5 rifles, including the one believed to have been used in this incident, and a rifle that was listed as stolen.

Tyrell Ollie has been charged with the following under the Criminal Code (CC):

  • Careless Use of Firearm;
  • Pointing a Firearm;
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose;
  • Uttering Threats.

Mr. Ollie appeared in court on July 5th , was remanded into custody and will next appear in court on a yet to be determined date.
