Rocky Mountain House Crime Reduction Unit seizes loaded firearms

The Rocky Mountain House Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) made arrests on April 1, 2020 and seized three loaded firearms from within a vehicle. One of the firearms was a sawed-off shotgun.

At 11:34 pm., members of the CRU were conducting proactive patrols in the Village of Caroline as a part of their crime reduction mandate. The officers spotted a vehicle being operated in a suspicious manner and conducted a traffic stop. The passenger in the vehicle immediately fled from the vehicle, but was apprehended shortly and found to have an outstanding arrest warrant. The driver was also arrested on scene. CRU members seized the firearms, ammunition as well as what is believed to be methamphetamine, following a search of the vehicle.

A 37-year-old male and a 27-year-old male were both remanded into custody on a multitude of firearms offences. Both are scheduled to appear in court on April 6, 2020.
