RCMP Traffic Services West seizes vehicle, charges driver for excessive speeding on the Trans-Canada Highway between Little Harbour and St. Jude's.

RCMP Traffic Services West seized a car, operated by a 29-year-old Woody Point man, for excessive speeding on the Trans-Canada Highway between Little Harbour and St. Jude's.

On March 13, 2020, around 5:45 p.m., an officer with Traffic Services West was on patrol and observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed. Initial radar readings showed the vehicle's speed as 168 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone, with a locked radar reading of 156 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone.

The driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for speeding more than 51 km/hr and his licence was suspended.

NL continues enforcement of excessive speeds and warns motorists of the dangers they place themselves and others in while driving in this manner.
