RCMP Traffic Services East conducted an enforcement blitz in the Conception Bay North area from January 9-11, 2020. A dozen charges, consisting of distracted driving (cell phone use) and seatbelt compliance, were laid in the Carbonear and Bay Roberts areas.
A 41-year-old Bay Roberts man was charged for operating a vehicle without a licence, registration or insurance. His vehicle was seized. A 24-year-old Spaniard's Bay woman was charged for travelling at 159 km/h on Veterans Memorial Highway. Her license was suspended and her vehicle impounded. A 21-year-old Coley's Point man was charged for travelling at 161 km/h. His licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded. A 21-year-old Carbonear man was charged for speeding and for operating his vehicle without insurance. His vehicle was also impounded.
RCMP Traffic Services warn of the dangers of aggressive driving, distracted driving and failing to wear a seatbelt. The RCMP is committed to improving public safety on the province's roadways and will continue to target dangerous driving behaviours.
