RCMP conducts a checkpoint on the Burin Peninsula on October 13, 2020.

Over 150 charges were laid between October 13 - 15, 2020, by RCMP Traffic Services East and officers with Burin Peninsula RCMP who partnered in a strategic enforcement initiative on the Burin Peninsula.

Enforcement took place along Route 210 and into the Town of Marystown and continued south along Route 220 from St. Lawrence to Winterland. Drivers were ticketed for excessive speeding, distracted driving, seatbelt violations, equipment defects, as well as registration and insurance violations.

Seatbelt compliance, speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving remain primary contributing factors in fatal and serious injury collisions in Newfoundland and Labrador. RCMP NL remains committed to promoting road safety through the use of enforcement and education.
