RCMP seek information about vehicle in connection with homicide investigation

The RCMP's Major Crime Unit is hoping information from the public can assist in the investigation of a homicide in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, N.B.

On February 21, 2020, members of the Richibucto RCMP were called to a home on Route 515 for a report of a sudden death. Upon arrival, police discovered the body of a man.

The victim was identified as 67-year-old Elias Bastarache, of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent.

The investigation has led police to believe that Elias Bastarache was in the Sainte-Marie-De-Kent and Bouctouche areas on February 20, and would have been driving a yellow 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier coupe (pictured).

Police are asking anyone who may have seen Elias Bastarache or his vehicle on either February 20 or 21, or who may have other information relevant to the investigation, to contact the Major Crime Unit at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267). Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.crimenb.ca.

The investigation is ongoing.
