RCMP Major Crimes Unit seeking male wanted on first degree murder charge – Update - Located

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit can confirm that the lone male who was wanted for first degree murder, was arrested yesterday.

He remains in custody and is remanded to appear in court next on Feb. 11 at 9:30 a.m. in Wetaskiwin.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit seeking male wanted on first degree murder charge

On Jan. 3, 2020 the Wetaskiwin RCMP responded to a homicide in the city of Wetaskiwin. An investigation conducted by the Major Crimes Unit has led to first degree murder charges against a 27-year-old male.

He has not been located by the RCMP since an earlier request for public assistance on Jan. 6, when he had arrest warrants on unrelated charges. The whereabouts of him remain unknown and the Major Crimes Unit is now looking to take him into custody. He is believed to be in either the Wetaskiwin, Maskwacis or Edmonton area. He is believed to be armed and should not be approached.

He is described as:

  • Indigenous
  • 5'11" tall / 181 lbs.
  • Black hair / brown eyes
  • Wears glasses

RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigating homicide in Wetaskiwin

The Wetaskiwin RCMP responded to a complaint of a deceased 34-year-old male at a residence in the City of Wetaskiwin on Jan. 3, 2020 at 10 p.m. The male was confirmed deceased at the scene. The RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has been deployed to take carriage of the investigation.

The investigation into this homicide continues. No further information is available at this time.
