RCMP lay aggravated assault charges following violent altercation

Shortly after midnight on June 29, Millbrook RCMP responded to a call that an injured man was requesting assistance. The RCMP attended, found the victim, and determined that he had been injured by another man during an altercation. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.

The investigation led to the arrest of Aaron Joseph Cope, 31, of Millbrook First Nation. Cope is charged with one count of Aggravated Assault and two counts of Breach of Probation. Cope was arrested a short time after the initial call to police, and was held in custody. He appeared in Truro Provincial Court and was remanded. He returns to court today.

The investigation is ongoing.
