Woodstock, New Brunswick

News release

The Western Valley Region RCMP continues to investigate several incidents that have occurred recently in the area, including one where shots were fired at a home, and a suspicious fire.

On October 19, 2020, police were dispatched to a home on Sewell Road in Jacksonville, after a number of shots were fired into the home. It's believed that the shots were fired from inside a vehicle, which then fled the scene. Four people were inside the home at the time, although no one was injured.

The vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting was recovered at a residence in Wicklow later the same day. A firearm was located in the vehicle.

A 32-year-old man from Wicklow was arrested. He was later released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Woodstock Provincial Court on January 19, 2021 at 9 a.m.

On October 18, members of the Woodstock Police Force responded to a suspicious fire at a tow yard in Woodstock, where two classic cars were destroyed. The fire is believed to have been deliberately set and the investigation is ongoing, with the assistance of the Western Valley Region RCMP.

"These were serious crimes, some of which put lives at risk," says Sgt. Brendan Flewelling of the Western Valley Region RCMP. "Our members and partner law enforcement agencies have been diligently working to investigate these incidents and locate the individuals responsible."

Members of the West District RCMP, the West District Crime Reduction Unit, the RCMP's Emergency Response Team, Criminal Intelligence Services, and the Woodstock Police Force have assisted in the investigations.
