RCMP investigate second incident of a male failing to wear a face mask while travelling

On June 22, 2020, at approximately 11:20 pm, James Richardson Winnipeg International Airport RCMP responded to a report of an unruly passenger on a flight that was travelling from Vancouver to Winnipeg. The airplane was scheduled to land shortly and the flight crew requested the assistance of the RCMP. Officers were advised that a male on the flight refused to wear his personal protective face mask when directed to do so.

The 39-year-old male from Winnipeg, is facing a charge of:

  • Fail to Comply with instructions of flight crew (refusal to wear face mask) Section 18 No. 10 Interim Order to Prevent Certain Persons from Boarding Flights in Canada due to Covid 19. ($5000.00 maximum fine)

RCMP would like to remind anyone travelling on an aircraft that they must adhere to the Interim order set in place by the Government of Canada, and wear a face mask during travel through Canadian airports and in-flight. Failing to adhere to this order can result in a fine of $5000.00.
