RCMP investigate found human remains in Portage la Prairie

On September 3, 2020, at approximately 11:30 pm, Manitoba First Nation Police Service received information of possible human remains, in the RM of Portage la Prairie.

Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services was notified and attended.

The remains were located near Cottonwood Drive, in the RM of Portage la Prairie. The remains have been identified as 36-year-old, Tamara (Norman) Benoit.

Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

Tamara was reported missing to Winnipeg Police Service on July 10, 2020. She was last seen in May 2020, around Portage la Prairie and Long Plain First Nation.

Investigators are hoping that someone has information on Tamara and her activities since she was last heard from in May 2020. If you have any information please call the RCMP Major Crime Services Tip Line at 1-888-673-3316.

Portage RCMP Detachment, RCMP Major Crime Services, Manitoba First Nation Police Service, Winnipeg Police Missing Persons Unit, Forensic Identification Services, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner's continue to investigate.
