Bonavista RCMP, with the assistance of the RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit and Clarenville RCMP, recently completed multiple drug investigations in the community of Catalina resulting in the arrest of three Catalina residents.
On June 20, 2020, police executed a judicially authorized search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a Catalina residence. Police seized a quantity of cocaine, illicit cannabis and other items indicative of drug trafficking. Two individuals were arrested and are facing charges as a result of the warrant.
A 47-year-old Catalina woman is facing charges of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Cannabis with the Intent to Distribute. A 41-year old Catalina man is facing charges of Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Cannabis with the Intent to Distribute.
In a separate investigation, police located and arrested a 38-year-old Catalina man for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Cocaine).
All three individuals have been released and are scheduled to appear in Bonavista Provincial Court on September 22, 2020. RCMP NL anticipates further arrests related to drug trafficking in the area in the coming days.
