On May 10, 2020, following a five-month investigation, Clarenville RCMP and the RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Unit arrested three individuals for drug trafficking offences, including trafficking in a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.
Search warrants authorized under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act were executed at residences on Old Mill Road and Gilbert Avenue in Clarenville. Items seized throughout the investigation included the following:
Approximately 15 grams of cocaine;
Several hundred prescription pills, including morphine, buprenorphine, and clonazepam;
An estimated $3500 in cash believed to be derived from the sale of drugs;
Multiple electronic devices;
Improperly stored ammunition; and
Other items indicative of drug trafficking.
The three individuals arrested have been released from custody and are due in Clarenville Provincial Court on August 20, 2020.
