On Wednesday, June 3rd, Prince District RCMP stopped a vehicles on Route 2 in Rosebank that was travelling at a high rate of speed. The speed recorded was 161 km/hour in a 90 km/hour zone.

The driver of the vehicle has been charged for speeding in excess of 60 km/h or more and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

There has been a number of highly dangerous speeds recorded for drivers in recent weeks and RCMP are urging drivers to consider the impact this careless use of a vehicle can cause. Drive according to the limits posted. The old adage that "speed kills" is true, and police do not want simple reckless behaviour to result in the death of the driver or of innocent people who may encounter these drivers.

Speeding has been identified as a priority in Prince District and the detachment has several initiatives planned to meet the needs of the communities we police. If you have any information or concerns in regards to speeding in your community, please contact the Prince District RCMP at 902-436-9300 and if you live in another jurisdiction, call your closest police detachment.
