RCMP arrest six people, seize drugs and weapons

The Codiac Regional RCMP have arrested six people and seized a quantity of drugs and two weapons following a report of suspicious activity in Moncton, N.B.

On May 15, 2020, police executed the search of two hotels rooms and two vehicles at the Hotel Moncton located on Mountain Road. A 26-year-old man from Grand-Barachois and a 26-year-old man from Moncton were arrested and charged. Two men and two women were released and are scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on October 27.

During the search, police seized a quantity of what is believed to be cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, heroin, hydromorphone (dilaudid), cannabis, anthranilic acid (acid) and various drug paraphernalia. Police also seized a conducted energy weapon (taser), a baton and ammunition.

Eric Levesque from Grand-Barachois and Gregory Macphee from Moncton appeared in court by way of tele-remand on May 16. They were each charged with one count of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and were remanded into custody. They are scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on May 20, at 1:30 p.m., for their bail hearing.

Members of the Codiac RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and the RCMP Police Dog Service assisted during the search warrants.

The investigation is ongoing.
