RCMP arrest man for impaired driving

A man from Balmoral, N.B., is facing impaired driving charges after the New Brunswick RCMP's Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit (TTEU), stopped a vehicle that was travelling at an excessive rate of speed near Belledune, N.B.

On April 30, 2020 at approximately 3:30 p.m., TTEU stopped a driver on Route 11 for driving 168 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometre per hour zone. The driver was showing signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene. Further to the investigation, the man provided breath samples that indicated that he had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system. The 60-year-old man had his car impounded for 60 days and his licence suspended for 90 days. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Bathurst Provincial Court to face impaired driving charges in September 2020.

The public can assist in keeping impaired drivers off the road. If you see a suspected impaired driver, call 911 immediately. Your description of the driver, vehicle, licence plate number and direction of travel can assist the New Brunswick RCMP in finding and getting an impaired driver off the road.
