RCMP and Winnipeg Police Service make gang arrests and seizures

On November 6, 2020, a RCMP investigation in Norway House, Manitoba led the Manitoba RCMP North District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) to relay information to the Winnipeg Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit that a male gang member would be travelling from Norway House to Winnipeg and would be in possession of a firearm.

On November 8, 2020, following a joint WPS and RCMP investigation, the WPS Tactical Support Team and Guns and Gang Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Winnipeg. Several individuals were arrested and multiple items were seized, including a SKS Rifle, assorted ammunition, an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency, drug packaging material and score sheets, and Bloodz Street Gang paraphernalia.

Three individuals are facing firearms and proceeds of crimes charges:

Wilford FORBISTER, 28, of Norway House: Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Store Firearm Contrary to Regulations, and Possess Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x2, Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking

Sterling OWEN, 24, of Winnipeg: Store Firearm Contrary to Regulations, Possess Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Possess Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x2, Failure to Comply with Condition of Release Order x2, Possess Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000

Jeanine BERENS, 30, of Winnipeg: Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Careless Storage of Firearm, Store Firearm Contrary to Regulations, Failure to Comply with Release Order x3, Adult Possess Proceeds of Crime over $5,000.
