Prince Albert RCMP and Crime Reduction Team arrest three individuals for weapons related offences

The Prince Albert RCMP Crime Reduction Team have charged a male and two females from the Sturgeon Lake First Nation with weapons offences following a search warrant on February 12, 2020.

The search warrant was executed in a residence located on Agency Road on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation by officers of the Prince Albert RCMP Crime Reduction Team, Prince Albert RCMP Detachment and Prince Albert Integrated Street Enforcement Team.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, a replica handgun, a spear-gun, and a quantity of suspected hydromorphone.

24-year old Shania Yooya, 27-year-old Brennan Sanderson and 29-year-old Shannon Sanderson have been arrested and are facing the following charges under the Criminal Code:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
  • Possess Prohibited Firearm with Ammo
  • Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm
  • Possess Firearm with Tampered Serial Number
  • Possess Weapon Obtained by Crime

Brennan Sanderson and Shannon Sanderson have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Prince Albert on March 18, 2020.

Shania Yooya will appear in Provincial Court in Prince Albert on February 20, 2020, at 1:30 p.m.
