On April 23, 2020, at 9:00 pm, Powerview RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Sagkeeng First Nation. Officers were told that a male, who was believed to be under the influence of drugs, was being violent towards people at the home.
When officers arrived, the suspect charged at them with an edged weapon. A conducted energy weapon(CEW), was deployed, however it did not have an effect on the suspect, and he barricaded himself inside a bathroom in the home.
After several hours of unsuccessful negotiations, RCMP breached the door, deployed a CEW and pepper spray, and arrested the male. A homemade bayonette/imitation firearm was seized.
