Portage la Prairie RCMP respond to fatal vehicle-train collision

On August 20, 2020, at 12:10 pm, officers from Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a collision between a vehicle and train that occurred on Road 52 West, located just north of Highway 1, approximately 20 kilometres west of Portage la Prairie.

Investigators have determined that a SUV, being driven by a 71-year-old male from Bagot, MB, was travelling southbound on Road 52 West when the SUV was struck by an eastbound CN train.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased on scene.

Officers from Portage la Prairie along with an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to assist CN Police Service in the investigation.
