Parkland RCMP arrest impaired driver

On March 11, 2020 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a member of the public called to report an impaired driver that was "all over the road" almost entering the ditch twice. RCMP located the vehicle with the assistance of the complainant. The suspect driver refused to stop for police until she arrived at her residence. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was charged with a number of offences including:

  • Impaired driving
  • Refusing to provide a breath sample
  • Driving while unauthorized
  • Flight from police

The suspect was also charged with a number of provincial offences. She was released from custody and will appear in Stony Plain provincial court on June 24, 2020.

On an average day, four Canadians are killed and 175 are injured in impaired driving related crashes, according to Mothers Against Drunk Driving Canada. With the assistance of this member of the public, another impaired driver was taken off the road, making our roads and communities a safer place.
