On April 12, 2020, RCMP charged 25-year-old Lawrence Jade Shingoose, of the Waywayseecappo First Nation, with Manslaughter, Criminal Negligence Causing Death with Firearm, Careless Use of a Firearm and Possess Weapon Contrary to Order in relation to this incident.
He has been remanded into custody.

On April 11, 2020, at approximately 7:00 pm, Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to a report of a shot fired at a residence located on the Waywayseecappo First Nation.
Officers attended and located a 15-year-old female suffering from a gun shot wound. She was transported to hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
A 25-year-old male has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
RCMP Major Crime Services along with the Manitoba First Nations Police Service continue to investigate.
