A 30-year-old man from Dieppe, N.B., is facing 43 charges following an incident that led police to seize multiple firearms and drugs.
On April 1, 2020, shortly before 12:30 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a man with a firearm threatening to harm himself inside a home on Copp Street. He was arrested without incident.
On April 2, 2020, police executed a search warrant at the residence and seized several firearms and what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine.
On April 4, Michel Goguen appeared in Moncton provincial court and was charged with 43 offences including the following offences:
- Twelve counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Eight counts of possession of a firearm without obtaining the proper licence
- Six counts of careless storage of a firearm
- Five counts of careless storage of a prohibited weapon
- Three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon
- One count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in methamphetamine
Michel Goguen was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on April 22, 2020, at 1:30 p.m., for a bail hearing.
The investigation is ongoing.
