April 1, 2020
Richibucto, New Brunswick

News release

A 29-year-old man has been charged following a series of incidents in the Richibucto area.

On March 27, 2020, members of the Richibucto RCMP detachment received a report of a theft of a red 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck with a snowplow attachment from a residence in Bouctouche.

On March 29, around 5:30 p.m., police received information that the truck was seen on Route 11 in Richibucto. The truck was located in the parking lot of a gas station on Rue Principale in Saint-Louis-De-Kent. When police arrived, the snowplow attachment had been removed and attached to a black 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

As police approached, the Dodge Ram pickup truck struck a parked police vehicle and fled the scene. No one was injured. A man and a woman in the Chevrolet Silverado were arrested at the scene and were released. They will appear in court at a later date.

On March 30, around 1:40 a.m., a red pickup truck matching the description of the one involved in the previous incident was spotted on Route 11 near Miramichi.

Police tried to intercept the vehicle several times, and a spike belt was deployed twice before the truck was stopped near Richibucto.

A man fled the scene, and a woman was arrested. The RCMP's Police Dog Services was called out and the man was arrested shortly after. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The woman was released and will appear in court at a later date.

On March 30, 29-year-old Tyler Husk of Moncton appeared via tele-remand, and was charged with assault on a peace officer with a weapon and possession of property for the purpose of trafficking. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 14 to enter a plea.

The investigation is ongoing.
