A 22-year-old Moncton man has been charged with first-degree murder following a shooting in the city.

On May 21, 2020, at about 9:20 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a shot fired at a home on Sangster Street. When police arrived, a man was located badly injured inside the home. He was transported to hospital, and later died as a result of his injuries.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at a nearby residence a short time later, and held in custody.

The RCMP's Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.

On May 22, Jake Mischiek was charged with the first-degree murder of 27-year-old Josh Daley of Moncton. He is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on the afternoon of May 22.

The RCMP is asking anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, to contact the Major Crime Unit at 506-857-2400.
