Man arrested following mail thefts

A 31-year-old man from Neguac, N.B., has been arrested following several reports of mail thefts that occurred in Caraquet, N.B.

On February 25, 2020, members of the Tracadie RCMP responded to three calls of stolen mail at different locations in Bas-Caraquet. While patrolling the area, police located a vehicle parked near a mailbox on Rue Du Portage. A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

During the search of the vehicle, police seized stolen mail as well as tools believed to have been used to break into the mailboxes.

The individual was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Caraquet Provincial Court on June 18, 2020.

The investigation is ongoing.
